Growing Support
A few weeks ago, I had some landscaping work completed on my garden. When the landscapers had finished and came to tidy up the site at the end, they mistook some wooden supports for my coldframe as rubbish, and junked them in the skip !
What to do ? Find an alternative support, like a few bricks ? Try to make my own from a bit of timber (I’m not that handy though).
Here’s a long-shot I thought. It’s been over 5 years since I purchased the equipment, but I could try calling the manufacturer and see if they still make the coldframe - perhaps they sell replacement parts ?
Having explained the situation to the manufacturer, Gabriel Ash, not only did they still make the item, they insisted on sending me replacements - free of charge - the following day. Sure enough, the items arrived, cosseted in bubble-wrap, complete with all the necessary bolts and washers, and pre-drilled in all the right places. It left me with the feeling that, even if the item had been discontinued, the firm would have asked the joinery to knock up a replacement just for me.
Gabriel Ash understood that a loyal customer is one who loves using their products and recommends them to others. That recommendation gets harder when something gets in the way of using the product, for whatever reason. They treated me not as a one-time purchaser but as an on-going supporter. And thanks to that mindset, my support has grown even more as a result.
